We’re excited to introduce our heritage tour of Sri Lanka, which will take you on a journey through two millennia of its fascinating past. Once known as Tamraparni, this land has a story to tell.

Around 2300 years ago, Emperor Ashoka spread Buddhism far and wide, and Sri Lanka was one of his favourite places to establish this philosophy. Since then, Buddhism has flourished here, leading to the creation of some truly remarkable monuments by ancient kings. On this tour, you’ll not only see these historic sites but also soak in the peaceful beauty of the island.

Plus, we’ll dive into the connections between Sri Lanka and the epic Indian tale of the ‘Ramayana,’ with insights from our knowledgeable guide.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Start your adventure to the gorgeous island of Sri Lanka! After you touch down at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, make your way to the hotel for check-in. Spend the afternoon relaxing and soaking up the vibes in Colombo.

Meals: Dinner

Today, we will check out and make our way to Dambulla. During our journey, we will visit the unique orphanage located in Pinnawala, where elephants are rescued and nurtured with great care. We will enjoy observing the elephants in their natural habitat.
After this enriching experience, we will proceed to Dambulla to visit the iconic caves, which are a testament to the rich history of ancient Sri Lanka. In the evening, we will arrive at our hotel and complete the check-in process.

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel before departing for Anuradhapura, a town rich in the history of an ancient kingdom that shares its name. This location is home to several significant heritage sites in Sri Lanka. During our visit, we will immerse ourselves in the ancient history of the region and return to Dambulla by late evening.

Get ready for another adventure as we dive into the rich history of Sri Lanka! Our journey takes us to Polannaruwa, but not before stopping by the iconic Sigiriya monument along the way. After that, we'll explore the ancient sites of Polannaruwa and soak up the incredible architecture and stories from our expert guide. We’ll wrap up the day by heading back to Dambulla to kick back and relax.

It is time to depart from Dambulla. Let us gather our belongings, check out, and head to Kandy. This city is of great significance to Buddhists, as it houses the temple that contains the relic of Gautam Buddha. We will visit the revered Temple of the Tooth Relic. Following that, we will explore the Gems Museum to admire the exquisite gems for which this country is renowned.
In the evening, we will immerse ourselves in the local culture by attending a traditional dance performance. We will arrive at our hotel by evening and take some time to unwind.

Can you believe we're nearing the end of this tour? After breakfast, we'll check out of the hotel and make our way to Colombo. We'll take a little detour to visit the Peradenia Botanical Garden, where you can admire a bunch of different orchid species. Once we arrive in Colombo, we'll check into our hotel, and later, we can chill at Galle Face Beach!

Today, we will delve into the rich history of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. After a satisfying breakfast, we will proceed to visit various historical attractions, including temples and examples of colonial architecture. In the evening, we will have the chance to shop at the Laksala market, where we can purchase souvenirs to remember our visit. We will return to the hotel by evening to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation.

Time to say farewell and start our journey back home. Once we finish breakfast, we’ll check out and drive over to the airport. After that, we’ll hop on our flights and head home, filled with wonderful memories to hold onto.

  • Any extra expenses incurred due to illness, accident, hospitalization of an individual.
  • Anything specifically not mentioned in the inclusions.

FEW POINTERS

  • Visa for Sri Lanka will be obtained by Ancient Trails with an e-visa facility. For the same, guest needs to provide passport and photos according to the norms
  • An original passport with validity of minimum six months from the date of arrival in the country and have sufficient blank pages for stamping the Visa or immigration pass
  • If any sightseeing mentioned is not done due to any unforeseen circumstances then an alternate sightseeing will be done
  • A traveller may please note that for domestic and international flights, the baggage allowance will be as per respective airline’s baggage policy and weight regulations. Travelers are requested to carry their luggage in accordance with the regulated baggage allowance. Excess baggage will be chargeable and the same is not included in the tour cost. It has to be borne by the traveller
  • There could be some complementary activities covered from our side at certain destinations. If any activity is not opted by traveller then the same is not entitled to a cash refund
  • A guest needs to possess the double vaccination certificate to travel
